We have a facilitator coming who is trained to present Love & Logic. She’s excited about coming! I know I’m looking forward to hearing her presentation – as a teacher I saw several videos/read a couple L&L books regarding classroom issues and valued their techniques. I’m very much interested in hearing their “parent” perspective!

From the Love & Logic website: Love and Logic provides simple and easy to use techniques to help parents have more fun and less stress while raising responsible kids of all ages.

Also, prior to the speaker for the evening, a gal from the non-profit “Mom’s Bloom” is going to spend a few minutes introducing us to their organization.

AND don’t forget! We are in a new location: South Wyoming United Methodist Church located at 2730 56th St. SW. It’s a quick trip from M-6 up Byron Center and then west 1/2 mile on 56th St.

Beginning with our January 17th meeting we will be meeting at a brand new location.  We will no longer be meeting at Rogers Heights CRC, we have moved across Wyoming to South Wyoming United Methodist Church located at 2730 56th St. SW.  It’s a quick trip from M-6 up Byron Center and then west 1/2 mile on 56th St.

During non-church functions we are allowed to park in the handicap accessible spaces at the front of the church.  This will make it easier for some of our pregnant moms and members needing a quicker trip inside.  We look forward to settling into our new home and thank South Wyoming United Methodist Church for welcoming us to their building.

September’s program was a presentation on early literacy by Diane Forbes, Program Outreach Specialist for Kent District Library.  Ms. Forbes gave us several handouts on the subject.  If you’re interested in checking out the information provided, please click the link below:

Early Reading Resources

The GRMOTC Running/Walking group participated in their first team race, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K on September 25, 2010. This is just part of the group that participated. Our team was 19 members strong (including two fathers of multiples and a grandmother) and did a great job raising money to fund breast cancer research. Many of the members had never been runners before and trained all summer to compete in this race. We hope to keep the running group going and make running the Race for the Cure an annual tradition for members of the club, their families and friends.

We all ran our own pace, but here are a few of the runners lining up to start the race.

Mom of twins, Melanie, heading towards the finish line. Dad of twins, Bill, kicking it in high gear to end the race.
