On Tuesday, April 17th at 7 PM, GRMOTC Appreciation Night will be themed after “Oprah’s
Favorite Things”. All members and prospective members are welcome to attend and are
asked to bring a guest/guests – anyone who they want to appreciate (husbands, moms, sisters, or anyone else who has been helpful to you).

We’re asking that everyone who brings a guest also bring a corresponding number of gift
basket of their favorite thing(s) – one basket or gift per guest (if you bring 3 guests, you bring 3 baskets). Total monetary value of each basket should be around $25. Each member will thank their guest(s) and tell us all why you appreciate them, and explain to the group what the basket contains and why the contents are your favorite things. Oprah’s favorite things usually fall into one of four categories: food, health & beauty, books & music, and home. Get creative! Do you have a favorite body lotion, book, recipe, baked good, something you’ve created off Pinterest?

Every guest who comes will receive a raffle ticket. Each basket will be given away by raffle
ticket – note that your guest(s) will not necessarily receive your specific basket(s), but every
guest will receive a basket. If you have any question please contact Melissa Petrolje
(mantozak@hotmail.com) or Aneka Stewart (stewart2391@yahoo.com )

We ask that each member also bring a dish to pass (appetizer, dessert, or finger food – think
Superbowl Party, chicken wings, meatballs, veggie pizza, etc.). Even if you don’t plan to
bring a guest, we’d still love to have you join us.

On Tuesday, May 1st we’ll be celebrating Cinco de Mayo a tad early that the appropriately named Cinco de Mayo on Monroe Center downtown Grand Rapids.  Join us for margaritas or whatever you want to celebrate with at 7 PM.  If you plan to join us please let Lori Ott (lleeott@hotmail.com) know so we can save you a seat.  Hope to see you there.

PLEASE NOTE that we have moved to our new location.  We are no longer meeting at Rogers Heights CRC.  All regular monthly meetings will now be held at South Wyoming United Methodist Church located at 2730 56th St. SW.  It’s a quick trip from M-6 up Byron Center and then west 1/2 mile on 56th St.

During non-church functions we are allowed to park in the handicap accessible spaces at the front of the church.  This will make it easier for some of our pregnant moms and members needing a quicker trip inside.  We look forward to settling into our new home and thank South Wyoming United Methodist Church for welcoming us to their building.

Our January meeting included a presentation from a Love & Logic facilitator.  If you’re interested in the resources presented during the meeting they can be located through the link below.

Early Reading Resources

The GRMOTC Running/Walking group participated in their first team race, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K on September 25, 2010. This is just part of the group that participated. Our team was 19 members strong (including two fathers of multiples and a grandmother) and did a great job raising money to fund breast cancer research. Many of the members had never been runners before and trained all summer to compete in this race. We hope to keep the running group going and make running the Race for the Cure an annual tradition for members of the club, their families and friends.

We all ran our own pace, but here are a few of the runners lining up to start the race.

Mom of twins, Melanie, heading towards the finish line. Dad of twins, Bill, kicking it in high gear to end the race.
